The Community Garden

The Community Garden is open during daylight hours throughout the year. It provides a great space for the community to enjoy and use. It provides a place for many people to use daily from school children passing through on the way to School or back home and those who go to relax or even exercise there.

The Community Garden has been open for 5 years and is an established part of our village despite a few folks not having visited yet. So please visit and spread the word to family and friends. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the Community Garden and to use their horticultural skills or simply grow some flowers and vegetables for family and friends. Events we held in the past have attracted over 200 people.

The Deerness Shed in the Community Garden, which is supported by Durham County Council, is a dedicated place for men of all ages to meet up in a safe, friendly group to chat, plan activities, trips, improve the environment and get active.

Opening hours: Monday 9 am – 12 noon and Saturdays 10 am – 12 noon
